Travertine Tile Cleaning

Travertine tile cleaning. To clean travertine grout lines mix equal parts baking soda and water to create a gritty paste. If you choose to use dish soap add only a small squirt to the warm water. Apply the alkaline cleaning solution mixed with water liberally to the travertine tile surface and allow it to dwell for at least 20 minutes. This can be scrubbed onto the grout with a small brush that will allow you to wash the areas between the tiles without scratching their edges and causing damage to the material.
Ideally you should use mild phosphate free biodegradable liquid dishwashing soaps or powders or stone soaps to clean your travertine tile. For regular cleaning use a mild neutral ph soapless cleaner mixed with water. Bottles cans and glasses with acidic drinks may etch the polish or damage the surface leaving a glass ring. Warm water is effective at cleaning travertine floors since it cuts through most soil and grease.
Travertine tile cleaning is slightly more complicated than other tile cleaning. Use coasters under all glasses bottles and cans. While the cleaning solution is dwelling on the ceramic tile surface you should agitate the tile with a stiff brush or scrub pad. Follow the manufacturer s directions on the cleaning solution and gently wash in an overlapping sweeping motion from the bottom up on a vertical surface.
Use an automatic scrubber with a disc brush for deep cleaning travertine. However it can also be the most vulnerable point in your travertine flooring installation as these spaces are susceptible to water penetration stains discoloration and the growth of dark unsightly and unhealthy mold.
